Once upon a time, there was a very lonely robot.  It was always sad because nobody would talk to it because they feared its intelligence and lack of similarity to their organic bodies.  Kim, for that was its name, could not understand why this was and decided to set out on a quest to find the reason.  The robot journeyed for three days until it finally reached a small city.  Everyone in the city was organic and similar, each on smiling at the robot with fake smiles, revealing perfectly straight rows of white teeth that looked almost unnatural.  Here and there a few people wore different outfits, but they all mingled together forming a huge group of cloth and flesh, causing the robot to stare.  How were they so similar to each other while Kim was so separate?  It wanted to ask them what their secret was, how they were all so alike, but there was something repelling about the crowd of humans.  They did not want an outsider like the lonely robot in their midst.  But Kim longed to be wanted, feeling the longing press against its metal heart like a hammer.  Suddenly, someone lay a warm hand on the robot’s cold metallic shoulder.  Looking up, Kim saw a young human, hair as black as a raven’s wing, eyes as purple as orange is not, and its skin as pale and fragile looking as a flower’s petal.  For a moment, all it could do was stare.  Stare at the only human that had even approached it.  The sad little robot did not have the knowledge of natural human eye colours and did not know that purple was not among the ranks.  For a few minutes, the pair stared at each other, each one feeling somehow close to the other, even though they had just met and never spoken.
“I’m Kim, the robot.” It said, brushed steel body gleaming in the sunlight.
“I’m Calvin, the not-quite-a-human.” Calvin said, its bright purple eyes shining like stars.  Kim thought about this, not understanding what Calvin had meant.  Calvin, sensing the robot’s confusion, elaborated by saying that it was a human clone, something not quite human, but that outwardly looked to be human.  The two became fast friends and when it was time for the lonely robot to leave and return to its home in the wastelands, Calvin promised to drop it a line some time.  Unfortunately, because of faulty wiring and bad connections, Calvin’s call never came though and the pair were miserable for the rest of their lives, which, in Calvin’s case, was only three more days due to a mob of angry humans.  Kim is still waiting for that call.
Hahahaha! I love this story! ^^ It is about Kim, the very lonely robot, who's name was selected only because it can be used for both male and female creatures. This is my little defective folk/fairy tale that is a second in the series with "The Very Ugly Pony" which was really, really bad. Written at about ten in the night on a school night, it has to be bad and poorly written, but I hope you learn a lesson from reading it about people who are not like others. But, maybe everyone who will read this happens to fall into that catagory...(Like me! ^^) Eh, I guess I was a bit inspired by a song that I have not heard in ages because I lost the cd, but whatever. What do you think of it? Any suggestions? Please help me make it better!
